Last November, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was a guest speaker at an American Principles Project's event in Washington, D.C. During the interview, Huckabee was asked to speak about that #PieGate controversy.
“You know, being from the South, I think one of the most offensive things you can accuse somebody of, is a store-bought pie. ‘'I usually make it with Bourbon,” Sanders responded.
The most “most offensive thing,” really (?).
I want to believe that Sanders was just responding in jest, but considering her track record of victimization, it’s hard to defend.
The #PieGate controversy was simply petty and push-back from frustrated Americans who are tired of lie-after-life from this administration.
For instance, when the press inquired about where Trump stood on the accusations of pedophilia against the then-Alabama Republican candidate Roy Moore, Sanders responded, “The president does not disagree with anybody. He's saying that he finds the allegations to be extremely troubling. He doesn't know any more than you do on this fact, other than that these are something that should be taken seriously, and that the people of Alabama should be the ones to decide on whether or not to support Roy Moore.” That’s a lot of words that happen to make little sense while giving no insight into Trump’s position.
Here was the question: “Sarah, Ivanka Trump says that she has no reason not to believe the women who have come forward. Does the president disagree with her decision?”
The question was straightforward, as straightforward as could be. But Sanders managed to speak in hogwash tongue. Nothing in her response made affirmative that Trump found the accusations disgraceful, disheartening, and outrageous, and that Moore should drop out the race and make room for another candidate. Thus, Sanders gave the impression that Trump supported Moore if Alabamians supported Moore, without explicitly stating so. But when the media dared to suggest Trump seemed to be supporting an alleged pedophile, Sanders reverted to the typical deed: sighing like it’s offensive to ask.
When the press pointed out the hypocrisy of this administration harsh criticism of Sen. Al Franken after several women accused him of sexual harassment – considering Trump himself faces accusations of the same – and even worse, rape - Sanders responded with indignation that Trump didn’t confess like Franken.
In Sanders world, Franken must face the consequences because he alluded to crossing the line, “Sexual harassment is completely unacceptable. I agree with the calls for an Ethics Committee investigation into this deeply troubling incident,” Sanders spoke during a press briefing. Noted: Franken is guilty, and Trump isn’t. Of course, nothing about that logic makes a lick of sense considering the Access Hollywood tape where Trump spoke of groping and kissing women without their permission and doing so while being a married man. Not to mention the seventeen women that have accused him of sexual harassment, and in some cases, rape. But Sanders is Team Trump. Thus the press and citizens must endure a daily dose of hypocrisy and doublespeak.
Then there’s the double standards and lack of accountability. For example, Sanders continues to deny Trump isn’t under investigation, even though he is. But in Sanders world, ignore the Russian investigation and the downfall of some members of the Trump campaign and White House staffers who currently face questioning about possibly working with Russian operators during the election to defeat Clinton.
As we speak, Michael Flynn and George Papadopoulos have pleaded guilty. Paul Manafort is facing indictment on multiple charges, including conspiring to work against the United States. And Jared Kushner still can’t seem to jot down truthful answers for a security clearance.
The controversy of lying on security clearances - meeting with adversaries during an election to possibly take down the opposition – and firing James Comey during the investigation – hey, pay no attention to any of that mess. Focus instead on “Crooked Hillary,” who isn’t under investigation currently. But the pending investigation of members associated with the Trump administration well it’s a “pretty big waste,” said Sanders during a press briefing in October.
You know who isn’t wasting time? FBI director Robert Mueller. But I’m sure it won’t be long before Sanders finds Mueller as the “most offensive” too. In my opinion — based on Sanders track record of defining credibly accused child molesters, sexual harassers, and perpetrators of assault — it is she that is the “most offensive.”
Sorry Mike Huckabee, but this feminist will never support your daughter as long as she’s associated with lies, hypocrisy, and degrading victims of assault.
