Considering the level of discourse that bounced around the White House on Wednesday, it’s not surprising that Donald Trump started Thursday with a burst of Twitter. And naturally Trump went directly to the topic at hand … repeating his MAGA slogan. Then a couple of tweets about his now-defunct search for those millions of illegal voters. Then, finally … another dig at NFL players.
Strangely, there seems to be something missing from this list. What are the papers on about today?
Trump portrayed as uninformed, unprepared and lacking focus in unflattering new book
During his campaign and tumultuous first year in office, President Trump demonstrated little knowledge of policy details. He was not interested in advice that conflicted with his instincts, and it was often impossible for White House staff to figure out what course he wanted to take. One compared it to “trying to figure out what a child wants.”
Uh-huh. And what else?
Here what's in the controversial new book about the Trump White House
After Trump met with Silicon Valley executives, he reportedly spoke with media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch advised Trump that working on H-1B visas may not jibe with the immigration promises Trump had made during the campaign.
"What a f***ing idiot," Murdoch apparently said.
This morning’s tweets follow a 17-tweet stream on Tuesday, none of which mentioned the pending release of the new book. And while Trump and Team Not-Yet-Fired maintained that they were “furious” about Bannon’s “disloyalty,” there seems to be little effort to push away the book’s contents including the idea that the Trump Tower meeting was treasonous, and that Donald Trump Jr. almost certainly took Russian representatives upstairs to meet the boss.
By the way, has anyone seen John Kelly? Did “the adult in the room” run away from this preschool?
Plus, there are wonderful quotes like this …
"He's not only crazy, he's stupid," Barrack, one of Trump's oldest friends, reportedly told a friend about Trump. (Barrack has issued a statement denying this quote.)
With friends like this, which are apparently the only kind of friends Donald Trump has, you almost don’t need … former friends who you fired because the new guy who was going to keep everything shipshape told you that he needed to go.
Meanwhile, Trump ...
Beautiful seems like a very odd description for a woman and child lying on the grave of their dead husband and father. Somehow, this tweet does not make Mr. Big Button seem any less creepy.
