Our communities are hurting because of the housing crisis here in California, and it’s affecting all of us.
YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard) Voters believe in stepping up to help our neighbors because it's the right thing to do. To us, that’s what it means to be a good neighbor: Looking out for each other, helping in times of need, and organizing to foster the kinds of communities we all want to live in.
That’s why we're building a grassroots movement of YIMBYs across the state, and it’s working! This year, YIMBY voters were instrumental in getting critical, pro-housing bills passed in the California legislature -- bills that will allow more housing near transit in the San Francisco Bay Area, and bills that hold local governments across the state accountable to building their fair share of housing.
We’re determined to work to solve the housing crisis. And we need your help.

The housing crisis is a massive problem, formed over many, many years of bad policy. We need Californians from across our state to get involved, step up, and take action to end this crisis.
YIMBY Voters come from all backgrounds and all walks of life. We look around our communities here in California and visualize more neighbors, more diversity, more opportunity -- and less homelessness, less economic hardship, less pollution and less traffic.
We’ve already seen that, when YIMBYs join together with our neighbors to fight for more housing, we really can make a difference. Thanks to the hard work of YIMBY Voters, these bills passed the legislature, and are heading to Governor Brown’s desk to be signed into law:
✔ AB 2923, to support more housing near San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train stations.
✔ AB 2753 and SB 1227, to close loopholes in the Density Bonus Law, which encourages inclusive, mixed-income communities, and to expand that law to promote student housing.
✔ AB 829, to eliminate local approval barriers to housing homeless people.
✔ AB 686 and SB 828, to hold local governments accountable to advance fair housing goals and to plan for population growth.
We’re making good progress, but there is much more work to be done. We need you on board.
