Last week, kossack and Florida voter kiazmarmegint asked a very good question:
WHY IS SO LITTLE ATTENTION BEING PAID TO THE CAMPAIGN TO RESTORE VOTING RIGHTS IN FLORIDA?
The Sunshine State isn’t too sunny for people with felony convictions. It’s one of only a handful of states that permanently close the voting rolls to people who’ve served their time and want to be full citizens again.
There are so many wrong reasons for this. Partisan dominance. Class. RaceRaceRace (ad infinitum).
Whatever lens you use to view the current law, the picture’s the same. Refusing the franchise to people who’ve honestly paid what society asks of them goes against every notion of fairness. It is un-American.
These are your fathers and mothers, your sisters and brothers. These are your kids. This is your boss and your best worker. These are Americans.
It’s time we treated them like it.
Please share this video with everyone you know in Florida, everyone you know who knows someone else in Florida. Give these people back their citizenship.
