Michael McDonald at the University of Florida does a wonderful job of collecting early voting stats and posting them over at ElectProject. He’s got some tweets about the very early voting and it’s on a pace to be BIGGER than the 2016 presidential year! Yes, it’s early but it’s a great start. I’m not sure there’s ever been a midterm election with a bigger turnout than a presidential year.
It’s very early, but let’s hope and help the Dems in GA keep up their great work!
I pulled some other numbers from Florida that might be interesting.
Florida:
Early Votes Dem % Repub % 2014 Dem % Repub %
554,950 37.3% 44.6% 35% 48%
The Democrats are doing slightly better than 2014 and the Republicans are doing slightly worse. It’s REALLY early, but in 2014 Rick Scott won by 1%, so let’s hope we can improve these numbers as we get closer to restore democracy day (Nov.6).
Stalin said: “It’s not who votes that counts, it’s who counts the votes”. Well, the fascist Republicans are doing their best to prove Stalin wrong. Throughout the country they are trying to stop people from voting who won’t freely give up their democracy and submit to the government by Oligarchy that they want for America. We need to vote in enough numbers to overcome their suppression.
VOTE! And get everyone who cares about democracy to vote!
UPDATE: Reports of long lines in Cobb county Georgia. This is one of those suburb counties that everyone is counting on going heavy blue. Clinton won a close race in the county 47.9 — 45.3
