There’s an ad supporting Republican Rep. French Hill of Arkansas that is making waves, and it’s the most racist thing I’ve heard in a while. In the ad, two (supposedly) black women denounce “white Democrats” for mistreating Brett Kavanaugh during the confirmation, saying it puts their men, boys, etc., at risk of the danger of a white “girl who screams rape.”
Not only is the ad full of falsehoods (Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s best friend never said she was lying, for example), but the voice actors sound like people trying really hard to sound black but just ending up being offensive.
Poor Emmett Till must be rolling in his grave to have his legacy distorted and abused in this way.
The ad was paid for by Black Americans for the President’s Agenda, which seems to have a dire lack of black Americans in its ranks.
I’m sure it’s no surprise to you that this racist ad turns out to be funded by a super PAC that is funded by white people.
Considering that Trump is wildly unpopular among black voters, this is completely unsurprising. I only found two real black people associated with the group, one of whom is Vernon Robinson. He is a North Carolina man who is anti-gay and anti-immigration, and once compared immigration to an alien invasion when running for Congress in 2006.
The ad has caught steam, and Rep. Hill says he doesn’t support it.
Of course, super PACs are really good at helping politicians officially distance themselves from content like this while still benefiting from whatever racist resentments get supporters to vote.
