I do not know what it is about late in the day Tuesday’s but it always seems like a good time for bad news dump. Maybe I just notice it more as I read a lot more than I normally do at this time. Or maybe it is just the constant chaos of this whole screwed up administration. Anyway….two weeks! 13 days? We can do it. We can do it. We can DO IT!
A little side note, forgive me if my writing is not up to par tonight. I write grants in my position at work and right now I am writing a Federal Grant that the jerks in the WH decided to recompete. Jobs are the line and I am bit burnt out and I am not even near done with application.
Onward!
As always the women will set us free from this nightmare:
The women’s wave is coming. Republicans should be worried
We are strategic, we are focused, and we are a threat to Trump’s grip on power. We are taking back what Republicans have stolen.
Women are very angry – for good reason. The upsurge in support for women’s rights has terrified the Trump administration, and they’ve been working furiously to push a dishonest narrative to invalidate and down-splain our powerful demonstrations.
Every lawmaker who continues to do this, or to advance policies that harm women, workers, the environment, and our democracy will pay the price at the ballot box. Because women are outraged, and they will turn out to vote in force to replace them in Congress and throughout the federal government.
As disgraceful as the current attempts by the White House and Republican garbage-pundits to paint us as “screamers” and “paid protesters” and “the mob” are, in truth they indicate a deep underlying fear – fear of women leaders who cannot be stopped. We see them and we’re going to replace them in Congress and throughout the federal government.
The #WomensWave is coming, and we’re sweeping the world forward with us. Go here to find a march near you.
Go scientists, boy do we need you...phew:
A Record Number of Scientists Are Running for Congress, and They Get Climate Change
Joseph Kopser, an aerospace engineer, Army veteran and Austin tech entrepreneur, is spending October on the campaign trail, Texas style.
Kopser is one of more than a dozen scientists running for Congress this November—a record number that reflects a groundswell of political activism in the scientific community triggered by the anti-science agenda of President Donald Trump's administration, especially on climate change.
The scientist candidates and their supporters say the political movement has the potential to transform Congress, injecting a critical mass of evidence-based thinkers who could lessen the influence of ideology on decision-making. It could help catalyze real debate on solutions to address climate change and a host of other issues, they say.
"I think the general war on truth and fact that the Trump administration has launched has outraged not just the scientific community, but a lot of average Americans who know that the sun rises in the East," said 314 Action's founder and president, Shaughnessy Naughton.
"I would hope that our scientific training in the deliberate decision-making process ... testing your hypothesis and studying the results, learning from the good and the bad without swaying the results for political reasons, well wouldn't that be a wonderful world to live in?" Kopser asked.
Again a long read, sorry bookmark it for later if you can. It is also not 100% good news as many of these individuals that stepped up lost their primaries but on the other hand they have not given up and will push ahead in these and future elections.
Hope! Enthusiasm! Two Weeks! 13 days? (is that getting old yet):
Early voting is underway, and it’s breaking records across the country
People are, as one former president used to say, fired up.
Early voting is underway, and voters across the country are breaking records. More than five million people have already voted, in some places at rates competitive with presidential election years.
The enthusiasm is palpable at early voting locations across the country, according to local media. In Florida, the opening of an early voting station at Miami Dade College inspired a “pep rally-like scene” Monday, with students wearing red, white, and blue tutus and cheering as first-time voters cast their ballot.
Early voting also began Monday in Texas, and in less than six hours, voters in El Paso set a record for the most ballots cast in a single day of early voting, with more than 36,000 votes cast.
“We had a line at the elections office all day,” Midland County Election Administrator Deborah Land told The Texas Tribune. “Most of the time it was extending down the hallway.”
With the possibility of taking back the House on the line, polls have found that Democrats are incredibly enthusiastic about the midterms.
I know the orange one and his ilk are making last minute racist statements, bragging about tax cuts for the middle class and all the other gibberish that sprays out of their mouths but I believe that there are not enough of “them” and plenty of us!
BaHaHaHa!:
Nevada GOP Candidate for Governor Dragged Screaming to Hell By a Dozen Family Members
This election cycle has given us plenty of bad things: nazis, white supremacists, and grifters who dabble in racism, just to name a few. But if there’s one good thing that’s come out of this awful pre-midterm hell world, it’s this: GOP candidates whose fundamental awfulness is so unbearable that their own flesh and blood relatives feel compelled to take a public stand against them in order to preserve the family honor.
First it was Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, whose six siblings all appeared on camera for a campaign ad urging voters in the state’s Fourth Congressional District to vote for anyone but their brother. Now, 12—a full dozen!—of Nevada’s GOP gubernatorial nominee Adam Laxalt’s relatives have come together in a joint opinion piece for the Reno Gazette Journal to explain just why their own family member essentially sucks. And folks? It’s absolutely brutal.
A few highlights: “They accuse him of being a carpetbagging opportunist”, “They say he’s a cosplaying phony”, “They insist he’s bad at his job”.
Truly, the whole op-ed is worth a read, if only to experience a master class in how to drag a shitty relative straight to hell, but doing it so well that you’re still invited to the family reunion next year.
OK, I need a break:
Stephen King Lets These Kids Make Film Adaption of His Story by Selling the Rights for Just $1
Despite his literary career being worth millions of dollars, Stephen King did not hesitate to sell the rights to one of his stories for the meager sum of $1 so that a group of film students could make a movie adaption.
The story rights were bought by film students from the Blaenau Gwent Film Academy in Tredegar, Wales. School officials initially contacted King’s team about making a film adaption of “Stationary Bike”, one of the short stories that was published in his “Just After Sunset” collection.
King’s team wrote back to the academy and said that they could buy the rights to the story as part of the author’s Dollar Babies program which sells his unadapted stories to students and youngsters for heavily discounted prices.
Now, 16-year-old Alfie Evans and 14-year-old Cerys Cliff will be writing the script for “Stationary Bike.” Once the script is finished, it will be produced by 30 other film students from the academy. After that, they will hopefully be taking the finished product to film festivals.
“The main thing is that it’ll be used to boost the confidence of our young, up-and-coming film-makers to actually say that they’ve worked on a Stephen King film,” he added.
I have always loved Stephen King. I am a big horror fan. Of course I love him even more now that he “tweets” at the ogre in the White House. Tee Hee Hee.

Well another tRump was in my neck of the woods today trying to save Claudia Tenney. This time it is, oh this hurts to even type, eRic. Someone pass me the smelling salts. This woman is that desperate, really. But the Nuns on the Bus were on it:
NUNS ON THE BUS GROUP RALLIES AGAINST TENNEY IN NATIONAL TOUR STOP
As Eric Trump is headed to New Hartford to stump for Rep. Claudia Tenney Tuesday afternoon, a group called Nuns on the Bus is rallying with their “Tax Justice Truth Tour.”
The Nuns on the Bus held a press conference outside Tenney’s New Hartford office on Tuesday morning. They’re traveling the nation to educate the public about the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.”
The group says they tried to schedule a meeting with Tenney but they were rejected, and that’s why they staged their drop-by and press conference.
The nuns are taking issue with the tax bill, which they say they want to change so that it affects 100 percent of our nation.
Of course in my neck of the woods the “other side” was out there too. If you count the other side as a former city councilman jerk face. You know I used to party with that guy. Maybe I will never understand people’s motivations.
Oh another yoohoo, on Thursday at my work we host Meet the Candidates Day. This is the one time I am glad to be writing this stupid grant because all I would have to say to Cten is: your father is rolling over in his grave and I walk away, just walk away. Course can’t do that at work :) or is it :(. Meanwhile I will hide in my office. (Clarification for those who do not know from reading my other posts, I have know Claw Face since I was knee high to a democrat...hahaha).
What? Hilarious:
The FBI Says It Can’t Find The “100 Pictures” Trump Said He Has Of James Comey And Robert Mueller Hugging And Kissing
Remember last month when President Donald Trump claimed to have pictures of Robert Mueller and James Comey “hugging and kissing each other”? Because we sure do.
Trump made the unusual claim on Sept. 5 during an interview with the Daily Caller, where he accused Mueller of leading an “illegal investigation” because of supposed conflicts of interests.
Trump has accused the investigation of being politically motivated, and then offered this reason as to why Mueller’s investigation was “illegal”:
He’s Comey’s best friend. And I could give you 100 pictures of him and Comey hugging and kissing each other. You know, he’s Comey’s best friend.
After BuzzFeed News made a records request for any such pictures with the FBI last month, we finally got an answer Tuesday: The FBI said they had no pictures of Mueller and Comey embracing each other. None.
“Based on the information you provided, we conducted a search of the locations or entities where records responsive to your request would reasonably be found,” an FBI official wrote. “We were unable to locate records responsive to your request. Therefore, your request is being administratively closed.”
Ha! So sad.
This guy is NOT giving up:
Richard Linklater Returns With Yet Another Anti-Ted Cruz Ad
Richard Linklater and the Fire Ted Cruz PAC have now teamed up on four commercials designed to convince Texans heading to the polls on November 6th that the incumbent senator is not the man to represent their state. Each of the ads have featured nothing more than an extremely Texan man, played by Sonny Carl Davis, sitting in an extremely Texan coffee shop, expressing bewilderment over how his home state could embrace such a craven, unlikable politician. Released Tuesday afternoon, the latest offering keys in on how even Republicans find Cruz objectionable. It’s every bit as effective as the first three.
The man closes this newest ad by offering Cruz some advice. “Ted, maybe try turning up that friendly knob some, if you have one,” the man says. “Try pretending that you care about others, like your constituents, Ted.”
“C’mon, Ted,” the man adds contemptuously.
You go dude!
Hmmmm...do any of them really have a brain?
Two weeks! again 13 days...(too much?):
'6 Easy Steps to Get Your Vote On' and other tips from 'The Black Woman’s Guide to the Midterms'
Though it sounds completely contrary to the hell we’ve been subjected to since Donald Trump became a politician, there is actual good coming out of this unique moment in time. Of course, it is really hard to see—unless you are a wealthy, white Republican who is benefitting from this administration’s regressive, hateful, harmful, pro-rich policies. But in spite of all the steps backward we are taking toward a more unequal society, progressives are now being forced to get creative and actively engage communities and constituencies like never before.
With just two weeks (emphasis mine, tee hee hee or 13 days funnier?) to go until Election Day, progressives are doing all they can to make sure eligible voters, especially in communities of color, turn out in record numbers.
BlackHer, a new platform developed after the 2016 election, has developed The Black Woman’s Guide to the Midterms, which contains a comprehensive list of resources for voters to demystify the midterm election process.
The guide also contains “6 Easy Steps to Get Your Vote On,” which, conveniently, applies to anyone and everyone who wants to vote.
Read. The. Whole. Thing.
I told my husband tickets to this better be my birthday present (it comes out on my bday!):
