This is the Republican President of the United States speaking about you and me. This is the message the Republican Party has used since the day Rush Limbaugh took to the air, and which exploded the day Gingrich assumed the Speakership.
Democrats are EVIL. Democrats want to DESTROY PEOPLE. The Republican Party has invested billions of dollars to define Democrats as, unpatriotic, God-haters, anti-family, pro-terrorist, America haters, etc., etc.
We no longer have a President of the United States; we have only the leader of the Republican Party in the oval office. We no longer have members of the House and Senate fulfilling their oaths to the people; we have the Republicans serving their Party and pursuing the personal destruction of anyone who would call themselves a Democrat.
Words have meaning. They matter. My 10th grade English teacher Mrs. Henry, of the WWII generation, drilled into us how to find the full meaning of words in their tone, context, and their intent. That's to her, I have always heard the dog whistles of the Republicans, and I understood implicitly what the Republican was doing with their words, and their tone, and their gestures and body language.
In the early 90’s Frank Luntz helped Ginrich with his “messaging. From Wikipedia: “During that time, he helped Gingrich produce a GOPAC memo that encouraged Republicans to "speak like Newt" by describing Democrats and Democratic policies using words such as "corrupt," "devour," "greed," "hypocrisy," "liberal," "sick," and "traitors. His stated purpose in this is the goal of causing audiences to react based on emotion. Per Luntz: “80 percent of our life is emotion, and only 20 percent is intellect. I am much more interested in how you feel than how you think.”
The Republican Party banded to defeat and destroy the Democratic Party not through what they could deliver to the nation, but by engendering hate and loathing of the Democrat brand.
We saw every single element of this come to fruition when Kavanaugh testified. His words. His tone. His anger. His contempt. His testimony was devoid of any intellectual presentation. He followed the now standard Republican partisan playbook: attack. Always attack. And to justify his attacks to the to his intended audience play the victim. Every one of his words was scripted, time-tested true Republican messaging directed to play on the poll tested emotions of a Republican audience.
Both sides do not do it. Democrats have never done it. It is all Republican do.
The Republican Party is the Party for racists. That is a fact. The Republican Party is the Party of misogynists, that is a fact. The Republican Party is the Party of hypocritical Christians. That is a fact. The Republican Party is fiscally irresponsible, anti-science, anti-environment, and anti-justice. The list could go on for days.
The Republican Party has succeeded in convincing their membership not to believe the truth, not to trust or believe sources of information outside of loyally Republican voices. They have done this through their words. Through the media spreading their words with no context or objection. They have done with controlling their imagery, their performances, and their staging. They have done it without truth, and those who would object were ignored.
Kavanaugh lies. About many things, but also about Democrats.
