The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. |

As of October 29, 2018
Most stuff is dormant or going there, so not too much to really report on.
looking south from back door
rose and pineapple sage, not sure when that rose blossomed
pineapple sage, orange and ribes behind
fewer oranges, but still enough and still ripe and sweet
the ribes is still out of control
but it still has a lot of berries
the milkweed is still largely gone to seed
And we still aren't sure what kind it is
something keeps uprooting this leek which is taking on a weird shape
I'm getting the grapes under control, the berries vanished while we were away
experimental very late planted winter squash
thornless blackberry, nobody likes them, bitter and overly full of seeds
One redbud cut down to stump, behind it is a suspected volunteer ribes
another ribes and a succulent
apricot, the fruit's gone and the leaves haven't turned
guava anc coffeeberry, doing nothing
santa barbara daisies, asleep until next year
looking north from back door, also pretty quiet
hydrangea fading fast
post bloom basil has a new sprig, beans finally done and strawbs
rhubarbs, left lost all its leaves, right doing fine
thyme and succulent
spinach chard and red/rainbow chard
again
first bed, kale with chards at the ends
failed zuke, has had many blooms, no zukes
assorted kale, many cut down to a couple or a few inches now taking off again
ditto (this is bed 2)
what's left of mallow, which suddenly simply started falling apart
spinach chard
suddenly terminal ribes
gerbera daisies
pear, fruit long gone, leaves turning and falling
apple - just finished picking, eaves still going strong
front redbud has lost about 1/2 its leaves
chives have dropped most of their seeds
Mexican sage
geranium
salvias
barberry
