Here’s a blast from the Republicans’ lying past, courtesy Kaiser Family Foundation’s Larry Levitt: they’ve been lying to America about their intent to protect people with pre-existing conditions for months and months:
We looked at that assertion back in May 2017. This was Ryan in panic mode because one of his members, Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), had bailed on him in the push to pass Zombie Trumpcare, the second big push in the House to get repeal and “replace” done. The idea that their plan did nothing to help people with pre-existing conditions was spreading among more moderate Republicans, and they were freaking out. Ryan freaked and released his own fact check:
That "verified" link goes to … himself. His own fact sheet on Zombie Trumpcare which details all the circumstances under which people with pre-existing conditions can be harmed by the law. Basically if states decide they can be. Pretty much every real healthcare analyst and as pretty much every healthcare industry group, as well as patient groups like the March of Dimes, refute Ryan on this one.

This is the plan, remember, that Trump called too “mean” because everyone knew then it wasn’t going to protect people with pre-existing conditions, among other things. It’s to the credit of the American people that they didn’t buy Ryan’s bullshit then, and they’re not buying it now.
The last eight years of Republican efforts on the issue have proven two things: 1) they are utterly incapable of drafting a plan for the nation’s health care; and 2) in the absence of such a plan, they’ll just lie their way through.
