OK, we fell for it again. (Finger-quote) Moderates, such as Senators Collins, and Munchin, and (finger-quote) conscientious Republicans, like the Flake and Corker, are just human-like Borg. When the Collective tells ‘em to do something, they do it. They may act squeamish for a while, they may get some headlines and go on cable news to talk about how their feewings this way or that way. However, when it comes to action time...Resistance is Futile.
In this day, if anyone has a Republican constituency, they are Borg. Responsive only to the Collective, any appearances to the contrary are worse than illusions — they raise false hopes that the Collective may be resisted. At the end...Resistance is Futile.
What is not futile is real live voters casting real live votes, in massive numbers, doing away with Borg office-holders wherever they exist. There is not one who is not part of the collective. I live in a swing district, IL-10, currently served nobly by Rep. Brad Schneider. It was formerly represented by Mark Kirk who later became a one-term senator from the Land of Lincoln. He ran as a conscientious moderate, but on the important stuff, the Collective called him home and he was Borg.
The lesson? THEY ARE NEVER NOT BORG. THEY ARE ALWAYS BORG.
Anyone who falls for Hamlet-like uncertainty in their candidate’s right-left decision-making has only his- or herself to blame, and everyone else should blame you, too. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me, like, a thousand times, I’m hopeless, forget me. Go on about your business and do good work.
There are better days ahead because we will vote and make them better.
