This time they got what they wanted. They plowed on through. And now it’s done. Republicans do that. Politics isn’t debate to them, or elections. They are a cult at war. The American Taliban. And it’s been working for them.
There is only one way to fix this. Remove them from power. Vote for Democrats.
This is a meta-issue election. It’s about big picture things: Human rights, freedom, corruption, sexism, racism, democracy. So your particulars don’t matter. Vote for Democrats.
You think Democrats are too weak and won’t fight? You think they aren’t left enough, or socialist enough or green enough? Or moderate enough? Or male enough or female enough? It doesn’t matter. Vote for Democrats.
The Republicans are going to run with making Kavanaugh a victim as long as they can to keep their side motivated. It probably won’t work (because they got what they want so they won’t be angry any more). And that means they will attempt to sow division. Democrats blaming other Democrats. It doesn’t matter. Vote for the Democrats on your ballot anyway.
If you are angry, vote for the Democrats.
If you are depressed and worried, vote for the Democrats.
If you think it won’t matter, vote for the Democrats.
Even the nicest, most moderate-seeming Republican needs to be taught this lesson: Coddling and enabling racism, sexism, corruption, incompetence and fascism is not OK. It never was.
There are more of us than them, and they know it. That’s why they gerrymander, pass horrible voter ID laws, and try to depress turnout.
The evidence is there that we can make this a historic wave/tsunami/ass-kicking Democratic election. The polling shows it. The fund-raising shows it. And the number of candidates we've recruited shows it.
But it’s only going to work if we all show up and vote.
I'm fairly certain that many of Trump's voters will not show up and vote if he’s not on the ballot. The motivation they found last week is a bump not a trend. But even if they do show up — that’s just 38% of America. The other 62% needs to represent. If we do, it will be an electoral punishment — and then we can get to undoing all of this damage.
What more encouragement could you possibly need?
