Traditional media outlets frequently have on Trump surrogates, apologists, spokespersons, bullshit artists—whatever you want to call them—to give the party line their side of the issues of the day. Progressive news sites like Daily Kos criticize these outlets not simply because they have paid spokespeople on their stations at an alarming rate, but because all too frequently these “experts,” “advisers,” and “columnists” are allowed to promote and repeat abject lies without being called out on them. They are allowed to pretend that lying is the same as having an opinion. Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hasan had on failed New Jersey politician and current Trump for President advisory board member Steven Rogers to defend some of Donald Trump’s indefensible lies.
Hasan began by stating a fact for Rogers: The president lies daily, multiple times.
He proceeds to point out the numerous hypocrisies of Trump and the Republican Party. In the end, Hasan calls Rogers out for what he is: a person trying to defend something and someone that are indefensible.
