There have been numerous arguments for having Nancy Pelosi regain her Speaker status back in the House, and I think there’s pros and cons to both sides of this argument. She is a very strong leader in many respects, and among her many achievements, her ability to pass the Health Care bill under Obama was tremendous. There was also a significant loss of seats under her reign, and she didn’t pursue Wall Street Execs nor did she pursue the atrocities of the Bush/Cheney Administration despite the evidence and pleas from many of us for her to do so. Her speech last week after winning the House back about “unity” was personally a little underwhelming to me as I would have liked to hear her talk more about accountability of Drumpf’s Administration (personally I feel this is the primary reason why Dems won the House this election cycle). But I get that this is her style and typical discourse when discussing her outlook and political goals with Congress.
While I personally would like to see someone else take the gavel, despite my differences with Nancy Pelosi I would have no problem having her back in charge. Her experience alone is worth its weight in gold. However, I also have absolutely no problem if someone else steps up and wins the vote for Speaker. In the long run, I think we’ll be just fine, especially with a rotten turd in the White House that causes chaos and stink with everything he touches. Our leaders in the House are good. They feel the Progressive change, and one way or another they will have no choice but to embrace it.
Take a breath. Have a beer or cup of tea, whichever your pleasure. We’ll be fine.
