Last week, a number of charismatic/Pentecostal singers and worship leaders held a praise and worship session at the White House. Paula White, Trump’s principal spiritual adviser and herself a charismatic preacher, arranged for them to come. That gathering has been much hyped among those Trump supporters who speak in tongues. They see it as proof that God’s hand is on Trump.
Well, excuuuse me, but this left-leaning charismatic Christian has to disagree. I repeat my take on this from Sunday night.
That last part, to my mind, is the strongest evidence yet that God definitely isn’t honored in the Trump White House. It cannot be stated enough—Acosta’s ban was based almost solely on a Twitter video that was doctored to make it appear he chopped away the hand of a White House intern trying to take the mic from him.
Well, as I write this on Tuesday night, that video is still up, even though it has been comprehensively discredited.
And the woman who posted that video, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, still has a job. Disgraceful.
We sane charismatics like to say that if the gifts aren’t used with love, you might as well be a clanging cymbal or a noisy gong. Well, if nobody who is supposedly “discipling” Trump impressed upon him that this video is sleazy, doctored, and borderline libelous, that worship session might has well have been a cacophony of cymbals.
