Democrat Xochitl Torres Small has defeated Republican Yvette Herrell in one of the nation's last outstanding House races, New Mexico's secretary of state certified Tuesday morning. This one is particularly delicious because the media called it for Herrell on election night — and she claimed victory — but had to walk it back recently. www.cnn.com/...
There is one race left and it appears we’re going to take it as well. In California's 21's Congressional District, Democrat TJ Cox pulled ahead of Republican Rep. David Valadao. That will bring us to 40, otherwise known as the high end of the likely blue wave scenarios.
Those of you who have tuned out once we won the House may need to understand why margins matter. Obviously there is an incumbency advantage that we will have going into 2020. Getting 40 seats gets us another seat in the committees, which is another critical vote in the bag during legislative markup. That makes the legislation that get out of committees more progressive rather than appeasing. It also bumps up the Dem’s committee budget, and now they can hire one more investigator or lawyer to bring down Dotard.
