There are more than 8 reasons why Congressman Beto O’Rourke should not hesitate to join the long list of aspirants to become our nominee for President of the United States, but for now, I’ll limit my blog post to just eight.
Even the oracle of establishment media, Chris Cillizza agrees with us, that Beto should grind the iron while it is hot.
1. He is young and commands a sound followership that will only expand well beyond his current momentum, which is necessary for politics at the national level.
2. He is beloved by the base of the party, young progressives of all stripes love the guy because of his credibility. You know where he stands on most issues.
3. He can raise a crap ton of money and fund his campaign without the burden of soliciting money from traditional sources of the DNC mega-donors.
4. He can easily compete and win in the early caucuses and primaries of Iowa, New Hamshire, South Carolina, and Nevada.
5. His eventual nomination will lock down Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona while putting Texas into serious play, forcing the GOP to defend that State. And a near sweep of the southwest, including California will dramatically lift our senatorial chances in Arizona and Colorado. He is bilingual and it’s a huge asset in those States.
6. He is not a warmonger, and will instantly generate support from Libertarians who are wary of foreign entanglements. Without Libertarians, the Republican candidate has the chance of a snowball in hell of winning the election.
7. He will win the Obama devotees, and build upon that platform of enthusiastic millennials and African Americans who were not really into Hilary Clinton nor Bernie Sanders in 2016, nor are into Joe Biden for 2020. Take it from me, an African American male, Beto has the chops to win big in our community across the country, especially in places where Bernie Sanders failed to get traction in 2016.
8 Beto is tall and can stand up to Trump without being obnoxious or look intimidated by his bullying tactics as Hilary Clinton appeared on stage with Trump during the debates.
Not to take away from others like Joe Biden, Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Kristen Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Bob Casey Jr., Amy Klobuchar, but Congressman Beto brings a lot more to the table. More on these candidates later, but for now, let’s go Beto.
Let’s Go BETO all the way!
