Its’ been an uphill battle for democrats in South Dakota, who haven’t won a statewide race since 2010. But uphill battles are what Billie Sutton’s used too, having come back from a paralyzing rodeo injury to return to the family ranch and Burke, South Dakota (population 604) and getting elected to the state senate. There, against the majority republican’s opposition, he took the lead to root out the republican’s culture of corruption. Probably South Dakota’s most popular current public servant, Billie’s been a literal blur as he’s rolling around the state in a final campaign swing. To turn out 100+ supporters in barely big enough for a WalMart Brookings is amazing enough, in smaller towns he’s often drawing more people than the towns population!
Billie is the kind of strong rural democrat like Jon Tester who can ride a horse and drive a tractor as well as craft public policy that works for all of us. This is a tight race so drop on over to Billie's website and lend a hand!
