My wife is 55 years old and has NEVER been registered to vote. It’s not that we disagree on political positions, but she has never liked politics and while I have voted in every election since 1982, she never has, until now.
She listened to me tell her this summer how this election is different, but I still didn’t think she was going to do it.
Then, just a week before the registration deadline, she heard that woman yell at Jeff Flake in the elevator.
“You’re telling me that my assault doesn’t matter, that what happened to me DOESN'T MATTER…”
And then that Friday, I had to come home and say, “honey, he’s gonna get confirmed”.
“When is the deadline for registering?”, she asked.
“Tuesday”, I said.
There is no way that the people in power can possibly understand what they’ve done, but they got my wife, MY WIFE… to vote.
We were numbers 6 and 7 in line this morning. I am so very proud of her.
