Yes, we flipped a lot of seats on election night. In spite of a few disappointments in the Senate and Governor races, last night’s results were a resounding victory for all Americans, especially Democrats, women and minorities.
In spite of all the GOP flimflammery, the house has been flipped upside down; it is now sunny-side up, which is frightening for the creatures of the dark in the WH. Expect to see trump flap around wildly in the hurricane that is about to hit him called Mueller and Congress.
Here are a few simple charts to illustrate the heartwarming Blue Flip -

House Flips
Women, as expected, did the heavy lifting in flipping house seats — 24 out of the 41 (and counting) flipped seats were won by women, many running for office for the first time. Most races were won by small margins in very red districts.

Look at the swing numbers; these are herculean efforts to move the needle by an average of 18 percentage points. The final margin numbers are relatively small.
Yes, there were so many other outstanding women candidates, who could not beat the difficult odds, but who belong in Congress. We can be sure that they will be around and continue to build momentum towards 2020.

*Trifecta = control of both state houses and governor’s office. 6 gains for Democrats, Republicans gained one trifecta (AK) and lost 4.
Women!
See the blue/red gap in the graph below?
And minorities.
(The graphic below is for House members only)
This is a BlueWave, no doubt. These results have changed the course of history.
Now we have to hold this line and add to it in the next election. The Republicans will be spending the next 2 years trashing these Congress members; we need to fight back at every moment and keep the electorate energized and well-informed.
Cheers to women! And Democrats, liberals and progressives everywhere.
