Why isn’t this considered a “blue wave” again? Simply because the Dems didn’t win control of the Senate? Weird, because I’m looking at a party that (as of this writing):
- Won 21 of 30 available Senate seats
- Won 220 of 419 available House seats and gained control of that chamber
- Made deep gains in many statehouses across the country, gaining full control in multiple states
- Saw many progressive amendments/propositions pass
- Won almost 57% of the vote in Senate races
- Won over 51% of the vote in House races
- Elected the most diverse set of candidates in the history of our country
The loss of Senate seats was strictly a fluky map issue. This was a blue wave by almost every criteria, and a clear rebuke to the President and his party.
