Just a short diary.
There’s a very close race for State Senate in Connecticut between Democratic challenger Jorge Cabrera and Republican incumbent George Logan. I was reading an article in the New Haven Register about how both candidates have declared victory.
According to the article, the count at midnight on election night showed Republican George Logan up by 119 votes, but when they finished counting yesterday, the Secretary of State website shows the Democrat, Cabrera, took the lead by 176 votes.
Republican George Logan claims victory anyway, despite the vote totals showing he lost, saying:
“We won this election. I know that because of the reaction I have experienced from folks in all of our towns,” said Logan.
Is that not the most Republican reasoning evah!??
The Republican’s argument is that in his bubble it feels like people agree with him, therefore he ignores the actual numbers and goes with what he feels should be true instead of what is actually true.
I wish I could be there to watch this guy find out that he lost.
I know this isn’t the most high profile close race or biggest story, but when I read that perfect example of Republican truthiness, I had to share.
