Okay, by now everyone paying attention is aware that a Judge down in Texas just struck down the PPACA (aka Obamacare). His reasoning is...well, I’m hesitant to dignify calling it such as “reasoning” implies a recognition of facts and precedent (neither of which seem to be involved here).
Here’s the best analysis I’ve seen at the moment on this:
Three immediate questions come to mind:
First, are people who just purchased a plan off the Exchanges over the last few years still going to have both coverage and subsidies after this?
Second, what immediate response can/should we voters undertake, and to whom do we direct it at?
Finally, longer term, should this be the point where we start pushing for Medicare For All or what?
I honestly don’t have an answer for any of this, at least not an authoritative one. I’m putting this out here to generate discussion and hope to The Almighty someone with expertise and weigh in and provide needed perspective.
The floor is open, but please keep in mind we’ve all had a very nasty shock just now.
