No taxpayer funded Monuments to Trumpism
I’m not a Psychiatrist. I’m not a Clinical Psychologist. I’m a layperson in those specialty’s as most of us are when attempting to analyze human behavior. We do that all the time by comparing what we perceive as “normal” behavior with what stands out as “abnormal” behavior. We manage, for the most part, to conduct ourselves in a way that is conducive to cooperation. We may “rock the boat” at times to advocate for something we strongly believe in, but we don’t make a point of becoming a contrarian just for the sake of being one.
By and large, we think that it’s unseemly to “toot one’s own horn”. We take a bow when we’ve earned the right to do so, but we don’t make a big deal about it. And that’s because most of us have a healthy ego structure that always admits humility and never has problems with self-deprecating humor. We easily poke fun at ourselves and demonstrate that we never take ourselves that seriously. We don’t’ heap praise on our self. That’s for others to do, and only if that praise is deserved. Our actions always speak louder than our words. We can take pride in a job well done and let the work speak for itself.
So when we see a person that acts in a way that is contradictory to everything stated above; a person that doesn’t look for cooperation from others, but rather needs total surrender from those in opposition that he sees as enemies, a person that sets out to rock the boat in every situation because that’s what advances his need for ego gratification, a person that doesn’t merely “toot his own horn” but put’s forth a constant blast from a horn worthy of a goal in a hockey match, and does so not on any merit that was earned ( like scoring a goal ) but by his own claims of innate greatness. A person that not only never laughs at himself, but cannot tolerate others laughing at him or offering any criticism of his behavior, a person that heaps praise on himself, when he isn’t getting enough of it from others, a person that brags about what he could have done, if others hadn’t blocked him from indulging his whims, a person that needs to steal the glory or praise directed at others and make the story about him…we can draw certain conclusions that don’t require a degree in psychology to inform us.
This describes the current President of the United States. We’ve never seen his like before. At least not in the White House. But we have seen it before in the worst examples of human behavior and unethical salesmanship. Donald Trump suffers from a malignant form of narcissism that is so uncontrollable that it threatens the very national security of this country. His ego driven presidency undermines the core values of this country.
Trumps wall has nothing to do with border security. He could care less about that. It has everything to do with Trumps “legacy”. He wants to build a lasting monument to himself across the American landscape that will forever be known as “Trumps Wall”. Everything about Trump is a desperate plea for attention, because that’s what a narcissist demands, and the wall would cement that for him…if it were actually made of cement as he promised instead of the “beaded curtain” that it’s becoming. Ann Coulter herself pointed this out when she said this; “Trump will “just have been a joke presidency who scammed the American people, amused the populist for a while, but he’ll have no legacy whatsoever. Trump will leave no legacy at all. Only a wall is forever.” And that’s what this is about. His legacy. It’s the narcissist’s dream. That’s what the Wall is; It’s always been about Trumps so-called legacy. A monument to himself. Trump the consummate narcissist puts his name on everything. It’s all about branding for him. He puts his name on top of giant skyscrapers that are nothing more than massive phallic symbols with his name plastered across the top that scream out his insecurities. He doesn’t just own a corporate jet. Nope, not big enough for Trumps ego. He owns a Boeing 757 and that replaced a 727. He has Trump water, Trump steaks, Trump wines, Trump University, Trump Casino’s. Trump hotels Trump Towers, and the Trump Wall would remind all of us, forever, how he got America to fund a monument to the magnitude of Trump.
Trump has already broken his promise to his supporters. He promised a concrete wall with a great door that Mexico would pay for. That was an enormous mistake, but being the consummate Con-artist, he simply couldn’t resist making the most absurd statement that anybody could possibly make; He claimed he would build an edifice and have another sovereign nation pay for it. And he guaranteed it 100% (believe me) And his followers did just that. The only problem is that the country he claimed would pay for it, laughed in his face and said sorry, but that’s not happening. ( They used more graphic words, but that was the gist of it) So, when he couldn’t get Mexico to pay for it, like any common con-artist he employed a bait and switch tactic by telling his followers that Mexico would still pay for it, but that the taxpayer would put up the first $5 Billion as a kick starter that Mexico would repay down the road. But that would mean getting Congress to fund it and that means that he needs Democrats to help him, and that’s not going to happen. They’re telling him to get it from Mexico as he promised. They’re not about to bail him out of a promise he should never have made. They aren’t going to bail out a con-artist. They’re going to expose one. Now, the concrete wall has morphed into a Steel slat Barrier, with pointy tops that look like a giant picket fence. That’s what he now claims will be his wall, but…there won’t be any funding for that either. He would simply put up his picket fence, call it a wall, and claim that he kept his promise and the Democrats have no interest in funding his ego trip at the taxpayer’s expense. They’re willing to provide funding for border security…but no wall. End of story.
So, what does Trump do? He shuts down the government by refusing to sign a spending bill unless he gets his wall.
He’s shutting down the government because Congress refuses to let him break his promise to the American people and to the Trump supporters specifically. He promised everybody that Mexico would pay for it. NOT the taxpayer. Not one dime of taxpayer money for his ego-trip.
On Jan 3rd the Democrats take over the House of Representatives. They will pass a spending bill identical to the one that the Senate already passed 100-0. Congress can override any Trump Veto, and the government shut down will end. With a divided Congress, the fun is just beginning.
