Steve Bannon’s year is going from bad to worse. In late October his speaking tour puttered out, ending with this very sad trip to a Topeka hotel conference room to speak to this crew:
Now he’s bailing on a debate at the University of Montana. Why? Well, let’s take things I never thought I’d type for $1,000, Alex: Because after he was booked at UM, it was announced Bannon would headline a sex robot conference. From Montana Kaiman, the student newspaper of the University of Montana:
Steve Bannon will no longer be speaking at a UM, the latest and third event to be canceled following the announcement he would be a keynote speaker at a joint conference on sex robots this month.
An email sent to people registered for the event, the Athenian Parrhesia Free Speech Forum, stated, “Postponement: Due to the unavailability of Mr. Stephen Bannon this event is postponed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Here’s a live look at our staff reactions:

Turns out, all three events are now canceled.

Thanks to Daily Kos community member dangoch for providing an additional statement from Love and sex with robots about the cancellation:
The congress had been due to take place at the University of Montana in Missoula, alongside the 2018 Advances in Computing Entertainment Conference (ACE). When it was announced that one of the keynote talks at ACE was to be given by Steve Bannon on the subject of employment opportunities for minorities in the computing entertainment industry, there were so many protests against Mr Bannon participating in the ACE conference that it became necessary to cancel the 2018 ACE conference. Since the arrangements being made for both conferences were inextricably intertwined, we have had no alternative but to postpone the congress on Love and Sex with Robots.
The 4th International Congress on Love and Sex with Robots will now take place just over 12 months later, in Las Vegas, during the period of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in January 2020.
