The special counsel’s sentencing memo for Michael Flynn is out and there’s good news and bad news. Bad news first: A ton of it (i.e. the juicy parts) has been redacted. The good news: Flynn appears to have given Robert Mueller’s team a virtual treasure trove of information. Therefore, Team Mueller is recommending no prison time:
"Given the defendant's substantial assistance and other considerations set forth below, a sentence at the low end of the guideline range—including a sentence that does not impose a term of incarceration—is appropriate and warranted."
Flynn sat for fully 19 interviews with the special counsel and other Justice Department offices. That’s a huge number of interviews, more than twice the seven interviews Michael Cohen sat for. MSNBC legal analyst Daniel Goldman, a former federal prosecutor, said the only time a prosecutor would ever spend that much time with a cooperator is if they are “preparing for trial.”
