Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA) in support of her colleague, U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Jr.’s (D. PA) re-election campaign:
I have a special place in my heart for Pennsylvania. I taught in Philadelphia. My husband taught there even longer. Our kids went to school there.
Pennsylvania needs senators who fight for hardworking families – not for the powerful interests. That's why I want to tell you about my friend Bob Casey.
Bob has spent his career standing up and speaking out for the people of Pennsylvania. In his two terms as a U.S. senator, he's made remarkable progress for retired miners, people with disabilities, women on college campuses, our service members stationed abroad and so many other Americans.
Right now, Bob's gearing up for the biggest fight of his career. Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell recruited Congressman Lou Barletta – a right-wing extremist who chaired President Trump's Pennsylvania campaign in 2016 – to run against Bob for the Senate seat.
The Koch brothers and other deep-pocketed GOP spenders have already poured money into Pennsylvania trying to buy Pennsylvania's Senate seat. They succeeded in 2016 – and they're just getting started to do it again in 2018.
Bob's campaign needs to raise another $58,000 this month to fight back against these attacks. Can you donate $25 or more to his campaign?
Bob's leadership in support of working Americans can't be overstated. This year alone, he's been on the frontlines of fights to protect affordable health care, against the GOP's corrupt tax bill, and to stop Betsy DeVos from destroying public education as we know it.
We only have nine months until Election Day, when Bob needs to win re-election so he can continue to fight for all of us. We can't wait until the last minute to get in this fight.
Will you help Bob meet his January fundraising goal and start the election year strong? Join me and chip in $25 or whatever you can right now.
Thanks for being a part of this,
Elizabeth
