I know Markos is a co-founder of Vox Media and a founder of Daily Kos. Are they entirely separate? Vox Media is a “Unicorn” start-up with a valuation of over $1B, over $100M in annual revenue and many influential outside investors, whereas Daily Kos is a small business funded by its users. As a result, Daily Kos is independent and relatively immune to outside pressure, whereas Vox Media has investors to protect and therefore is not as independent.
Is Markos committed to keeping Daily Kos outside of Vox Media, thereby preserving its independence? Has he ever spoken on this issue? Thanks for your attention to my question.
