This is sad enough:
Sources with direct knowledge of the matter tell The Daily Beast that Facebook made a six-figure contribution to CPAC, the yearly conference for conservative activists which will feature President Donald Trump, White House advisor Steve Bannon, NRA president Wayne LaPierre, and other right-wing favorites.
Got that? Got that Facebook gave Hundreds of Thousands of dollars to CPAC to help them facilitate their continued obstruction of expanding equality? How very liberal of them...
But to add insult to injury, just over a week after the Stoneman Douglass HS massacre, Facebook demo’ed a virtual reality (VR) shooting game at CPAC. Well, that is until a true patriot outed the social media megacorp. From The Gaurdian
Facebook is facing backlash for bringing a virtual reality shooting game to a rightwing conference where the National Rifle Association (NRA) has promoted gun rights in the wake of a Florida school shooting.
The social media company, which has since removed the demonstration game and expressed “regret”, was already facing scrutiny for attending theConservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), a high-profile event that featured speeches attacking gun control advocates and a renewed call from Donald Trump to arm school teachers.
Hugo Barra, Facebook’s vice president of VR, said the company has a “standard set” of demos for events, including “action games” with “violence”.
“In light of the recent events in Florida and out of respect for the victims and their families, we have removed them from this demo. We regret that we failed to do so in the first place,” he said in a statement to the Guardian.
Hate to inform you, Me Barra, but those “recent events in Florida” occurred before this years CPAC commenced so I expect that very soon Facebook will truly “regret that we failed to” not setup this ammosexual entertainment demo in the first place! Just you wait, Mr Barra, until this info goes viral with millennials — who are already abandoning Facebook in droves. Your vapid corpspeak may work on CPAC zombies, but the free thinkers are gonna call BS on your BS. Really, who did you get to compose the following email? Sarah Huckabee Sanders?
Facebook routinely participates in events hosted by organizations across the political spectrum,” a Facebook spokesperson said in an email. “Our presence allows us to share information about our products as well as facilitate a dialogue ... Our involvement is not an endorsement of any particular position or platform.
I call BS!
