Chris Hayes had Chris Stewart (R. Utah) on his show tonight. Hayes did a pretty good job trying to show the absurdity of Republicans’ fixation on the Page FISA warrant issues, but he missed an opportunity to demolish him on the ludicrous “biased texts” between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page,
Here’s the gist of the exchange dealing with the “biased” texts and emails:
Stewart: You gotta be honest about this. After reading some of these texts and emails, surely that would be shocking to establish the truth. You’ve read these emails. Tell me. Would you be shocked at that?
Hayes: I‘ve read the texts and they’ve talked smack about about just about anyone, including Hillary Clinton, including Bernie Sanders. I don’t know if you’ve ever talked to cops about politicians.
[Stewart demands Hayes name one text critical of Clinton between Strzok and Page, Hayes can’t,]
Stewart: If you think those texts are trashing on politicians equally, that’s simply not true
Hayes plays on Stewart’s court here — limiting the discussion to just the texts from Strzok and Page the Republicans have selectively released. But besides failing to name one anti-Clinton text from Strzok-Page, Hayes fails to make the more important argument:
Why are we looking only at the texts between these two out of 35,000 FBI employes?
Is it because Strzok was working on the Trump-Russia investigation? Well, there were 100 agents working on the Hillary email and foundation investigations. Shouldn’t we see some of their texts to find if they may have been biased against Hillary?
Former FBI Official Jim Kallstrom said before the election he was “channelling the rage” of FBI agents furious Hillary wasn’t indicted. After first denying it, he admitted he was in touch with current FBI agents about this.
Can even one person on TV point this out? To show how crazy it is to accuse the FBI of bias against Trump based on two emails?
Can you imagine the vitriol against Clinton in texts among agents investigating her and in texts between them and Kallstrom.
For people like Stewart to gnash their teeth and wail about the FBI’s anti-Trump bias based on the Strzok-Page emails is disingenuous and deceiful.
Republicans are going to do this kind of crap. Is it too much to expect the MSNBC liberals to use their best argument to call bullshit?
