According to Axios Chief of Staff General John Kelly recently said that the people who were eligible for DACA but didn't apply are lazy. This is sadly not surprising to hear from this administration but it is totally untrue. There are many good reasons for someone not to apply for DACA. The biggest is that DACA was not permanent and many feared that a future administration would come in and repeal DACA and then would have all there information making them easier to deport. This is of course what is literally happening right now. The other big problem is that DACA isn't free, it cost nearly $500 to apply for DACA, but you can not legally be employed anywhere in the United States if you are undocumented. This makes it extremely difficult to obtain that money.
