On March 3, Laura Wolf went to her Facebook account to post an image of a young woman helping an elderly patron at a local Waffle House.
The post went viral, and the many people touched by that image wanted to find out more about that selfless lady. Her name is Evoni Williams—and she’s an 18-year-old working at the La Marque, Texas, Waffle House, hoping to save up for college. As Fox 7 in Austin explains, she just got a big head start.
After Evoni's inspiring act of kindness, Texas Southern University offered a $16,000 scholarship. This gift brought tears to her eyes. "Getting my own day. Getting the scholarship and all of that. That's what made me teary-eyed," Evoni said. Evoni is working at Waffle House in order to save up for college. The LaMarque mayor also honored her with a special proclamation for her act of kindness.
As La Marque’s Mayor said during a press conference for Williams:
This is probably a lifestyle for Evoni. She does this all the time because that’s her heart. It just happens that someone got a picture of this one time, of many.
You can watch a video below of the press conference, where Ms. Williams received a lot of well-deserved—and entirely unsolicited—praise.
Warning: All the feelings.
