Pretty cold day today in Ithaca, and old bones can only endure so much, so I left today's rally early. As I walked away, I came across quite the scene. A young father was pushing a stroller with a two year old youngster, and with his wife beside him. They were standing on the sidewalk, about a block and a half away from the "March for Our Lives Rally" on the Commons, with a "Never again" chant ringing in the air. He started shouting, "Why don't they shut the fuck up" as his wife was reaching up, desperately trying to cover his mouth with her hand, screaming "No!" at him.
It may be that the political end of the gun control equation will actually be easier than the social part. But in at least one household tonight there may be "an interesting discussion."
