...still an asshole.
Minding my own business on a Sunday, I heard my wife gasp.
“I can’t believe they show this on tv. With the kids still awake.”
“What is it,” I hollered.
“An asshole. Right there on tv. It’s obscene.”
I got up, went to the family room and...you can guess the rest.
Rick Santorum is an asshole. Rick Santorum isn’t dumb (lets say that for the sake of argument).
When a young congressman, Rick Santorum was often driven home by a staffer of another PA representative. A Democratic representative. Santorum was more than happy to expound on his ambitions and how to reach them. He was eager to say that he was more moderate than his public persona but wanted to find a space he could own. He was conservative, he would say, but less so than he was in public. He needed to sound more wingnutty than he was to become the next darling of the far right...blah...blah...blah.
The comment he made on CNN, that students should learn CPR rather than march and stop looking to other people to solve their problems, smacks of a job interview. Santorum is was and will always be an asshole. What disturbs me the most is that he likely said it because he knows people in the White House, Fox, NRA and the current GOP will see it as commendable and perhaps make him worthy of a job.
