Two of this community’s most precious helpers now need OUR help. Winglion and Sara R have done wonderful things for this community, making quilts for those of us who fall seriously ill or are deeply grieving. The quilts are beautiful pieces of art in themselves, all with messages of love and healing sewn in as a part of the whole.
And they ask little in return for all the hard work and love they put into the quilts except the funds to purchase materials and mail them. They have been making their living by making Pootie Pads…. small cat nap sized pads filled with either catnip or lavender and other sewn goodies. Cats just looove their pads to play with, chew on, roll around on and use for naps..they also make dog sized ones, too with lavender.
But three weeks ago, Ann (winglion) began to feel ill and in pain, so Sara made a call to an advice nurse who told her to get an ambulance. She did, and Ann was found to be in the midst of a heart attack. Off to the hospital they went and after tests, in was confirmed...Ann was in the beginnings of a heart attack. She stayed in the hospital for a few days and a stent was put in.
All was fine and good for several days and then the symptoms returned. Back to the hospital she went. This time they found a blockage on the left side of her heart. They cleared the blockage and are now monitoring it to see if she’ll need stents.
All this has put the sisters in a financial bind. They can’t work to earn funds to pay the bills, the mortgage, or buy food and gas...and pay for the hospital, doctor’s visits and medications. And tax time is coming up. Last week, The Marti wrote a wonderful diary asking for our help:
The thing is….this is how Sara and Ann support themselves. They’ve done well, until a year or so ago, when their kitchen was flooded and they had to battle the insurance company and live with an totally dismantled kitchen from September….until well after the first of the year! The entire household was in an uproar and that put a lot of their work well behind where it should’ve been.
Now, with Ann’s health taking such a beating….they are unable to do the work that supports them. It’s been two steps forward and one step back for over a year. This time, they simply cannot work hard enough or fast enough to catch up.
Ann and Sara really need our help.

So many of us kindly stepped up last week, but they still need at least $1,600 to get them in the clear and give them a buffer after all is paid.
The tax bill is as yet unknown and will have to be dealt with in a week or two when they finally can calculate what is owed.
