Donald Trump earlier today, during a speech to the Latino Coalition Summit:
Except Donald Trump has “rejected at least six efforts by Democrats to work with Republican colleagues to reach an agreement on DACA,” according to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC).
“You have called on Congress to act to address this issue,” their letter stated. “However, you have thwarted every bipartisan, narrow agreement that seeks to provide relief to Dreamers and instead have attempted to force a deeply unpopular, anti-immigrant agenda through Congress.” The Grassley bill, which mirrored Stephen Miller’s white supremacist immigration agenda, tanked in the Senate, getting the least amount of votes out of the four proposals voted on that day.
What the majority of Americans (nearly 90 percent of them) want is permanent protections for undocumented immigrant youth, and now. And remember: it’s Donald Trump who ended the DACA program, and it’s Trump’s party that controls Congress. It’s up to them to fix the crisis he created.
