The F.B.I. agents who raided the office and hotel of President Trump’s lawyer on Monday were seeking all records related to the “Access Hollywood” tape in which Mr. Trump was heard making vulgar comments about women, according to three people who have been briefed on the contents of a federal search warrant.
The search warrant also sought evidence of whether the lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, tried to suppress damaging information about Mr. Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.
I recall there were rumors that there was a much, much worse tape of outtakes from The Apprentice; horrible racism and sexism and crudity, enough to occupy much of a DVD. The Access Hollywood tape was out in the public domain, available on the Internet; I don’t know what Cohen could possibly have done about it. Unless, of course, he went to NBC and arranged for the other tape or tapes to remain hidden. And committed some sort of crime in doing so.
What sort of illegal activity did Cohen engage in on Trump’s behalf relating to the “grab ‘em by the pussy” tape? The FBI evidently has evidence sufficient to convince a judge that he did something illegal — and since the tape was already out there, the crimes must have been committed to keep something else hidden, something as bad or worse.
Donald Trump really is a bad human being, aside from being a criminal and a lousy President. And more evidence is out there, and Cohen’s efforts to hide it may be unraveling.
