The Journal of the American Medical Association recently published a study that ranks the states according to life expectancy rates. To virtually no one’s surprise, all of the top 10 are “blue” states, while the bottom 10 are all “red.” Is it mere coincidence that the states that expanded Medicaid under the ACA or that set up their own health insurance exchanges tend to do better in this area and that those that didn’t tend to do much worse?
So the next time someone makes the absurd claim that “California is becoming a third-world place,” point them to this study (the researchers averaged the ages of men and women for purposes of this study):
