Mueller is no doubt doing a very good job of investigating. I think he’s one tough and experienced nut. Who knows when or what he will come out with. But, If he doesn’t do it soon, he’ll be accused of wicking the mid term vote. If he does it too soon, without every i dotted and t crossed, he’ll be equally vulnerable. Still, I rather think, he’s not thinking about that much, and that’s fine w/me. He has a job to do, and it’s more complex than any of us can imagine, as much as we try to keep up. He’ll call the shots as to when and how he reveals his findings.
But I do notice a certain desperate hope on the part of Democrats and progressives that he will some how save us. IMO, We MUST get over this.
I have seen endless fantasies here that certain republicans, and their buddies, and the president too, will be marched in a perp walk, headed to life in an orange jumpsuit. That may happen to some of them, ---I would say Manafort and Cohen most need to fear a life in orange. But they are small pawns to give up for the GOP.
And frankly, I’m not holding my breath that Trump or Pence or any of Trump’s family will be perp walked IN ANY WAY.
We are in a time when the GOP, ruler of all three houses of our government, and the SCOTUS, have shown absolutely no interest in saving our republic from Trump. Absolutely no interest in saving us from his day in day out pathologic lying and bullying. No interest in upholding the ethics or dignity of the presidency. And most direly, no interest in upholding the need for competency in the White House.
So, IMO, no matter the sexy day in day out soap opera of Mueller vs, Trump, we are going to have to solve this without counting on Mueller. Not because he isn’t entirely competent, but because if competency mattered, we wouldn’t have Trump.
And, thankfully, I see a lot of that happening in the resistance. But as glorious as the protest marches have been, and as much as it has lifted us all to see so many in the streets, it hasn’t done a freaking thing to influence republicans. Not a freaking thing. Yeah, it may make them nervous, but not enough to make them open their mouths in defense of decency in any honorable way.
CLEARLY, the great, great majority of republican reps, are just waiting this thing out. That’s what’s so interesting to me---in that many may see the GOP as so aggressive, but I see them as frozen like a deer in head lights right now. They won’t and can’t help us save this country right now, and neither can Mueller.
So. It’s what, mid April? Barely 7 months till the midterms and so much work to be done. And from my POV, our best contributions will be keeping an eye on every race, and seeing where and how we can contribute. I think of it as my “dance card.” I don’t have a lot to donate, but it is my joy to keep up on races, and send $5 here, $10 there, and sometimes, when I’m really behind a candidate, more.
And, I also hope to involve myself in registering the vote, now that I’m semi retired.
In the end I don’t think it is Mueller who will save us, although I do respect his efforts and think IF things go well, his report will be greatly influential and important. But in the end,I think we will get ourselves out of this in the same way we fell into it. Via the vote, as handicapped and suspect and trounced on as it is, we won’t let that stop us. We will participate more, take less for granted, and vote our way out of this.
