Someone in Steve King’s district decided to lay it on the line. The Storm Lake Times, bless their heart, printed it here.

I would like to ask you to stop attending church at St. Martin’s in Odebolt. Your attack on a high school girl, traumatized by the Florida shooting, was immoral, indecent, and un-American. None of the nuns who taught school there would have kept silent about such contemptible behavior. None of the priests, none of the farmers or kids I grew up with there could have ignored it. Your willingness to use and abuse even this girl to make yourself look good is the opposite of the Gospel. It’s a mockery of Catholicism. The Early Church would have had no problem making you stand at the door in sackcloth and ashes to beg forgiveness for a few years after such a public repudiation of your baptismal vows. I ask you now to do the same to stop the injury you are committing to our name and Eucharist. It is a complete perversion of Christ and the truth.
Will it persuade current King voters? Probably not many; perhaps a few. But it will arouse those who haven’t bothered to vote in the past. Most important, it stakes out the moral ground.
SIlence gives consent. Mark Higgins refuses to be silent. How have you made your voice heard?
