Here’s what happened, according to one anonymous White House source:
Evidently, instead of going straight to Fox & Friends, as is his normal routine, President Trump decided to do a little channel surfing and happened on a report concerning Mr. Pompeo. The CIA Director, the report said, who had just returned from a successful sit down with North Korea’s Kim Jung-un, was encouraging his friends to float the idea of nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Just as his morning tray of Diet Coke and sweets was brought in, Trump picked up his phone and called Pompeo.
“You think you’re riding high now ‘cause you’re the one talking to Rocket Man! That little sucker is mine!” Trump reportedly yelled into the phone. “You better back off Nobel, or you’ll have to put your balls in traction!”
Hearing the loud shouting, Melania came in and somehow was able to calm him down. An aide was summoned, who quickly discovered that the whole report was erroneous. Though it took nearly 15 minutes, the aide was able to finally convince Trump the story was fake news.
However, even given that, the president chose not to call back Mr. Pompeo, we also learned. “Let that sucker twist in the wind for a while. He needs to get this message,” was reportedly what Trump told the aide.
We reached out to Mr. Pompeo’s office for comment, but they have not responded at the time this report was filed.
