Knowingly or not, Trump's Attacked Chuck Todd with "Sleepy Eyes," an Anti-Semitic slur

On March 16, 2016, Trump tweeted 

Sleepy eyes Chuck Todd, a man with so little touch for politics, is at it again.He could not have watched my standing ovation speech in N.C.

On March 11, 2018 he repeated it: "Sleepy eyes Chuck Todd, he's a sleeping son of a bitch," the president said at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.”

Sounded weird, right? Chuck Todd’s eyes aren’t particularly “sleepy.”

He is, however, Jewish.

Tonight, reading Stonkettle’s tweets, I learned “sleepy eyes” is an anti_Semitic slur: 

 

I did not know "sleepy eyes" was an anti-Semitic slur.

When I was told such here on Twitter, I went and looked it up.

It is. And it's much worse than that.

Apparently, if you have the stomach to google “how to spot a Jew,” you’ll find places like Stormfront listing certain facial characteristics, such as nose, skull shape, and also “sleepy eyes.”

So there are three possibilities:

1. It’s a complete coincidence. (happening twice we know of)

2. Trump used it knowingly (because there are “good people on both sides”).

3. Trump unknowingly integrated it into his vocabulary from e.g., his father, his son, Bannon, Gorka or other anti-Semites he hung out with.

If the latter is the case, Stonekettle tweets:

The President of the United States calling a Jewish person "sleepy eyes" isn't funny or clever or harmless.

If Trump DOESN'T honestly know that he's engaged in an anti-Semitic slur, that doesn't make it better, it makes it WORSE.
