French President Emmanuel Macron, in a tweet reacting to criticism from the French Press that he got nothing out of his meetings with President Trump, imparted some classic French wisdom while aptly describing the U. S. President, in our view.
Our CNS Paris Bureau Chief spotted Macron’s tweet, and translated it for us:
“A relationship passes through the ages of man - birth - childhood - adolescents - early adulthood and on to maturity. I understand this - he does not. He is an awkward adolescent trying to unhook my bra without asking me to the prom. There are surprises coming his way.”
Reading this, and watching Trump’s actual physical fumblings with the French President - ridiculous attempts at hand holding, brushing dandruff off his suit - should lead all Americans to a greater understanding of both men, especially the president.
As for the president, in our view:
L'homme devrait être giflé.
(The man should be slapped.)
