(Apologies in advance if the pictures make you get out your magnifying glass to see. Or if they turn out to be way too huge. I had a devil of a time trying to get the pictures looking the right size while I was composing this and decided it would be better to curb my bent towards Perfectionism and just get this info the hell out there).
Something very strange is going on. The above is presumably the Joy Reid “Miss Charlie” blog posting, taken from a screenshot of what I found at 10:47am this morning (4/26/2018).
The date of the posting is at the top, Thursday February 21st, 2007.
Now, here’s a close up of the Previous Posts list:
There are ten previous articles listed, and one presumes “Run for the Border” was the most recent. Hypothesizing that Reid made two entries daily, the last “Bush’s Human Shields” might have been posted Feb. 16th (though that is a complete guess).
Also note that the article name itself, “Miss Charlie, Miss Charlie” is not the first on the list. That will be important later in the tale.
But here is where things start to get really weird.
This morning I also took this screenshot of the “Hardaway Homophobe” article. Note the date: Thursday, February 15th, 2007.
I scrolled down and took this screenshot of the Previous Posts at 10:49am.
We know this is still the Hardaway article because of the text. It [the text] matches what has already been sent around all over the internet. Also, ten previous posts. And the name of the current article “Tim Hardaway is ...” is not first on the list. File that away for later.
Everybody sees a problem here with the dates, right?
The “Miss Charlie, Miss Charlie” article is second on the Previous Posts list, but the date on it was February 21st, which is, if I’ve got my math straight, is six days IN THE FUTURE!
So, there’s that.
But wait, it gets even weirder.
Here’s a screenshot I took later of the same Hardaway article, at 11:59am, as I was going back to the source to doublecheck what I thought I was seeing. You can’t imagine how gobsmacked I was to see that the Previous Posts list had been completely changed in just over an hour! See for yourself:
The text of the article is the same, but the Previous Posts list is completely and utterly different. I also noted that whereas the previous two lists did not have the current article on the list, for some reason this one does - it has “Tim Hardaway is a Homophobe (and so are you)” as the first Previous Post. Ten previous posts, but counting the article it was on at the time, not actually the previous ten.
And yes, there’s more.
Somehow I stumbled upon an index page that showed both the Hardaway and the Miss Charlie articles, in what was listed as a 2007 archive made apparently in July of 2009. I did screenshot the whole thing after I went back to it later but I’ll just show you a screenshotted section of the index that shows both articles I’ve shown screenshots of:
The links in purple are the links I clicked on around 10:45am (before I had discovered the changed Previous Posts list) because I wanted to look at more pages to compare and guess what? None of the others opened up to pages except the “Miss Charlie” and “Hardaway” links. Everything else gave me some sort of a Not Found screen. So, that was interesting.
Now, I am only a minimally-computer-savvy person (hence my problem in getting all the picture sizes just exactly as I’d like them), so I can’t even begin to speculate on what this all really means or who is doing it I certainly welcome anybody’s comments along those lines.
But I don’t think it makes sense to suggest that Joy or her people are the ones doing this changing, simply because the change of the “Hardaway” Previous Posts list makes it look correct chronologically whereas the one I found first was clearly anachronistic and therefore impossible. Keeping it would be The Smoking Gun for Joy and Company in defending themselves about her blog having been hacked. It makes no sense that they would change it so as to conform to a timeframe that was perfectly realistic and believable.
If nothing else, I think this pretty much knocks down the argument that these archived materials can’t be changed. I saw one change just this morning and you just saw the evidence.
And yes, I have the unaltered screenshots saved. The FBI is welcome to visit and raid my computer. I altered nothing except cropping and resizing for this article. The originals are untouched from when I took them except for me opening and reopening them. I will be emailing Joy and Rachel Maddow about this after I get it posted, attaching all the screenshots. It’s possible there is some sort of non-nefarious explanation for it, but it was such a strange thing, I thought it best to take a page out of the Comey playbook and record the information as contemporaneously as possible to when it happened, which, as of this writing was less than six hours ago, and tell others about it.
Thank you DailyKos for letting me use this platform to tell my story!
