Now that Republicans in the House have released their version of the Intelligence report, we can finally make concrete claims about their coverup for Russia and Donald Trump’s entourage. And you don’t have to go far to find the glaring incontrovertible evidence of the GOP coverup for Russian agents working with the Trump campaign.
Unfortunately for the GOP, an article in the NY Times today reveals the admission by Natalia V. Veselnitskaya that she is in fact a Russian agent. Most honest people had already come to this conclusion but the shocking news of her admission when confronted in an NBC interview with hacked emails provided by Russian opposition members proving that she does in fact have a Russian government handler shines a direct light on the GOP coverup of the Trump campaign’s collusion with a Russian agent in order to get dirt on Hillary Clinton.
the lawyer, Natalia V. Veselnitskaya, worked hand in glove with Russia’s chief legal office to thwart a Justice Department civil fraud case against a well-connected Russian firm…
“I am a lawyer, and I am an informant,” she said. “Since 2013, I have been actively communicating with the office of the Russian prosecutor general.”…
The Justice Department prosecutors charged Mr. Katsyv’s firm in 2013 with using real estate purchases in New York to launder a portion of the profits from a tax scheme in Russia…

The timing for the Russian sympathizers in the GOP couldn’t be worse:
Finally, Democrats and legal experts have argued the Republican investigation ignored key witnesses and evidence. Those claims were bolstered Friday when, on the same day Republicans' report was published, the Russian lawyer at that Trump Tower meeting told the New York Times she is an “informant” for the Kremlin — suggesting her ties to the Russian government go way deeper than previously known.

The links between Trump and Natalia’s handler, Denis Katsyv, who was the focus of the money laundering prosecution that was abruptly ended after Trump fired Preet Bahara are something investigators will be… investigating. Wrapped up in all of that is of course the apparent murder of a key witness and the past death of Magnitsky in prison, spurring the namesake Act. Trump’s links to the Algarov’s and Katsyv’s real estate companies are something I’m sure Mueller is investigating… if not something he’s already established. There are possible links in real estate to the latter that I won’t get into here. The former are already well established.
Irregardless of that, we now know that Trump Jr, Manafort, and Kushner met with a Russian agent promising dirt on Hillary Clinton stolen from the US government.
So, now that the House GOP’s cards are on the table, we can finally say without any doubt that the lengths to which the GOP will go to in order to cover up their party’s embrace of Russian spies is a threat to our democracy. But sadly it isn’t surprising. We’ve know for some time that their patriotism was as fake as Fox. As The Handmaid’s Tale warns, we can get used to pretty much anything. The question that remains is when patriotic Americans will effectively stand up to the GOP and force a return to true normalcy and accountability for what increasingly looks like treason and a coverup by far right Republicans in government that embraces and covers for Russian spies infiltrating government computers and murdering witnesses... and then lying to the American people about it in written GOP “intelligence” reports.
