This is so wrong MSNBC needs to discipline Mitchell. This tweet by Mitchell goes to the heart of why the WHCD has lost its way.
Justice Hugo Black once said:
"The press was to serve the governed, not the governors."
There is absolutely NO WAY a White House reporter should be demanding an apology from someone on behalf of the Press Secretary! Especially a Press Secretary who is a propagandist for an authoritarian regime that is attacking our democracy, including the press, from every angle!
Andrea Mitchell is supposed to be a watch dog over a corrupt government, not an apologist for them. This is so contrary to what a good reporter should be doing, I’m not sure how MSNBC can ignore it. How can we ever believe another report from her about the Press Secretary or any other part of this regime when we know she is looking out for them in case someone insults them?
It doesn’t matter if Wolf was the most insulting person ever to be at the dinner, or her jokes were crude, or if you think she should never have been there, or even if you think she should apologize to everyone in the world. It is absolutely unethical for a reporter to be publicly demanding an apology for the very people she’s supposed to be giving unbiased reports about, it’s not her job.
This is a prime example of how our MSM has forgotten why the founding fathers sought to give them protection in the very first amendment of the Bill Of Rights.
UPDATE: After reading some of the comments I’m trying to think of an appropriate analogy. Let me try this.
What if the judge deciding issues concerning the Stormy Daniels suit were to publicly call for Avenatti to apologize to Trump for insulting Trump by saying that Cohen is going to flip?
That’s the kind of ethical situation I think Mitchell is in right now.
