The quote below is a joke from Michelle Wolf on Seth Rogan’s Netflix charity show. In my opinion, this isn’t the kind of comedian progressives should defend. I believe that people need to better research the TV personalities they claim as progressive heroes before staining the left with their taint. The enemy of your enemy isn’t necessarily your friend. Just because Michelle doesn’t like Donald Trump or Huckabee Sanders doesn’t mean we should have her back. Her freedom of speech is safe. We don’t need to defend that. And we really don’t need to defend her.
And now men don’t know how to act anymore. Guy friends of mine will be like: if a woman walks by can I even say she looks nice? Men, this is how you can not get accused of sexual harassment. It works almost all the time. Men, all you have to do is be hot. And then we’ll be like, he touched my boob. The hot guy touched my boob. We might even apologize. Like, I’m so sorry... my boob was in your hand. It wasn’t even the good one. You should touch the other one. It’s a better shape.
This isn’t the kind of comedian I believe in supporting as a liberal. In my view it’s a big mistake to unnecessarily taint our movement with her opportunism and careerism… and IMO her cheap and retrograde brand of comedy.
We need to stop reflexively defending everyone who attacks Trump. It’s illogical and dangerous and it will hold us back.
