Received this e-mail today from Governor Tom Wolf’s (D. PA) re-election campaign:
Governor Wolf is working to keep survivors of domestic violence safe, but he needs your help.
Thanks to public pressure from supporters like you, the Pennsylvania Senate has already passed bipartisan legislation to take guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.
But the House still hasn't taken action.
Let's help keep the pressure up. Sign our petition and tell Pennsylvania legislators: "Keep guns away from domestic abusers."
Current law allows people convicted of domestic violence crimes an incredible two months to forfeit their guns -- if a judge actually chooses to require it at all. And when the guns are finally given up, abusers are allowed to hand them over to a friend, a family member, or even a next-door neighbor, allowing easy access to use the weapons against their partners.
Let me be clear: these loose restrictions are dangerous and a threat to our communities.
Governor Wolf is pushing for common sense legislation that would require abusers to forfeit their guns within just 48 hours, and to hand them over to law enforcement officials, a lawyer, or a licensed dealer.
By passing this law, the Pennsylvania House can save lives and prevent a continuing cycle of violence. That's why it's so important to keep the pressure on the House to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.
I signed my name, will you sign yours? Tell Pennsylvania legislators to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers:
