Fox News is getting desperate. Today, it ran a story slamming Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti for (shocker!) not getting divorced fast enough.
Here’s the blaring, 28-point headline:
Wife fumes as lawyer to the (porn) stars Avenatti neglects their divorce case to chase limelight
And here’s the gist of the story:
Michael Avenatti’s wife is a little miffed because her divorce from Avenatti is, well, dragging just a bit.
Lawyer Michael Avenatti is too busy defending porn star Stormy Daniels to attend to important business involving his own wife - who desperately wants a divorce, she told Fox News.
The ubiquitous attorney, who has become CNN's favorite prime time guest, represents the porn queen, who claims she had a 2006 fling with President Trump and believes Trump is defaming her by denying it. But while he is basking in the limelight, his wife says their divorce proceedings have stalled.
“I need to be divorced and if [Michael Avenatti] continues to paint the narrative, he can ignore our case!” Lisa Storie-Avenatti wrote in a text message from their home in Newport Beach, Calif.
Oh, well that must mean Trump is innocent then! Never mind! You’ve broken the case wide open, Fox. I guess Trump didn’t bang a porn star and then illegally pay her off just before the 2016 election, possibly with Kremlin-connected money.
Everyone can go home now. Nothing to see here!
Fox went on:
The irony of Avenatti painting himself as a champion of women while negecting [sic] the pressing domestic matter is evident in his own recent tweet.
“We should all thank Stormy Daniels for her sacrifice and strength. The full extent of her courage will come into focus in the coming weeks,” he wrote in a tweet on Thursday.
Hey, dude’s a little busy right now trying to save us all from a venal, narcissistic moron who would napalm the Wisconsin Dells to get on the cover of Parade magazine. His divorce can wait.
And the irony of Fox News presenting itself as a champion of a woman who has to wait a little longer to get divorced is evident in the $50 million the network paid just last year to settle sexual harassment claims.
So, yeah, maybe let another media outlet take this one.
Meanwhile, Avenatti was ready with his own response:
Well, most of us are too smart, anyway. But Fox does know its audience, doesn’t it?

Hey there! Check out my new book, Dear F*cking Lunatic: 101 Obscenely Rude Letters to Donald Trump, at Amazon (or at one of the other fine online retailers carrying it)! Mention you heard about it on Daily Kos for no reason at all … because there’s no discount or anything. But it wouldn’t hurt, would it?
