When our ever-delightful Neeta was in New Orleans some time back, I took her on my somewhat unconventional tour of our frustrating, fascinating burg. Recently, she suggested I offer the same to kossacks who will be attending Netroots Nation this summer.
Figuring out the logistics of scaling up a casual driveabout with incessant yammering is a bit of a challenge. Step one, logically, is to see if there is any interest to determine how big a vehicle, cost of same, etc.
My jaunt generally runs around 2-3 hours and concentrates on “downtown” (below Canal Street), Mid-City, the Ninth Ward and more obscure spots. The French Quarter, Garden District, Uptown, etc. I leave to the pros (I can offer recommendations for guides, docents, etc. should anyone be interested).
I’m tossing up this diary to get an idea whether such a tour would be of interest and feasible. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. I’ll check in throughout the day and respond as I can, make notes, etc.
(Right now, I have to get ready to help out at a baby shower. I’d rather have root canal, but some things aren’t a matter of preference.)
